REPLACING MUSES

REPLACING MUSES (4.2.2012)

AN: It's been an awfully long time since I wrote my last fanfic. I just came up with this little plot like an hour ago. Really short. I am pretty new in the Castle fandom, and I am not sure I got them right, but I had to get this out and try. Not beta-ed. My mistakes.

Some time in the near future. Established Caskett! Please, review!

Disclaimer: Castle is not my property... sadly.

Blurb: The 12th precinct receives unexpected visitors.

Detective Kate Beckett was looking at the murderboard, mulling over and over about the case, when she heard the elevator open. Knowing it was Castle with her shot of coffee, she turned around with a smile. And she got the shock of the day.

Castle was bringing her coffee, that's for sure, followed by two famous mystery writers, James Patterson and Michael Connelly.

"The hell...?" she mumbled.

"Morning, detective, look who I found on my way here!"

The whole bullpen had noticed the entrance of the three writers, and an excited silence enveloped the whole floor. Kate was aware of Ryan and Esposito behind her, their mouths agape.

"Kate, it's good to see you again!"

"Likewise, James! Michael... how's it going?"

"Wonderfully. New book in the making."

"That's great."

"Not as great as mine will be," Patterson added.

"Obviously," joked Castle. "However, we didn't come here to discuss that." He turned to Kate. "I have a surprise for you!"

Castle was going to continue with his speech when suddenly Captain Gates came over.

"What is going on? Not enough murders for you to sol..." She stopped talking when she saw that instead of one writer, there were three in her department. "Mr. Connelly... and Mr. Patterson..." The poor woman was astounded.

"Captain Gates, I am happy to see that you know my colleagues. I actually brought them here today to meet you, and to present you with this magnificent idea we had."

"Oh?"

"Yes, we were thinking... you are going to love this... of co-authoring a book. With a female lead character. You."

"Me?"

"Exactly. Awesome, isn't it? We have even an outline of how the story will go. Do you want to read it? We can add every little detail you consider suitable to make it more real..."

"Me?"

"That's right, Captain. Why don't we go to your office so we can talk about this?" Connelly was aware that the woman was dumbfounded... and maybe, pleased?

"Me?"

"Your office, Captain?" Patterson helped.

"Of... course..."

Not-so-Iron Gates-anymore, Patterson and Connelly left to talk about the new literary project. Kate was frowning at Castle.

"To be replaced as your muse by another woman? That's my surprise?"

"Jealous much?"

"Not jealous... just... miffed."

"I would have done this a lot sooner if I knew this was the reaction I was gonna get." The idiot was grinning!

"I just thought... I am a one-writer girl! Why can't you be a one-muse writer?"

Castle got as close to her as possible, rubbing his front against her side...

"Kate... Before I met you, people in the street, in the park, in the cinema... my pumpkin, and, God forbid, even my mother were my inspiration from time to time. So, you see, plenty of muses around, although you certainly are the best ever... But there is something I can promise you..." He put his lips close to her ear and softly said: "I am a one-Kate man."

Kate's face lit up with a bashful smile.

"That sounds..." she whispered softly.

"I love you, Kate."

"Love you too..."

And the detective did something she had never done before in the crowded bullpen. She put her hands on Rick's cheeks and pulled him for a kiss. With tongue.
